Earlier this month, we reported that cash machines across Saudi Arabia are apparently rejecting them.
The problem, it was reported, is that the new notes’ size and security marks have confounded the ATM machines, which were apparently not updated to recognise the new banknotes.
Now, it turns out, that it may be six months until ATMs across the Kingdom will be updated to accept the new notes.
However, according to Saudi Gazette, work on updating the machines will begin this week. If the process of updating the ATMs runs smoothly, it may not take so long before they’ll be able to accept the new notes.
The new banknotes were brought in to mark the era of King Salman, with the Saudi central bank launching them to the public towards the end of 2016.
